Chris Wimberly serves as the Chief Financial Officer for the South Carolina Department of Environmental Services. In this role, he oversees Budgets, Business Management, Financial Management, and Procurement.

Wimberly was a member of the former DHEC team for more than 9 years and has held various roles in Finance and Operations.  Prior to his current role, he served as the Operational Reporting and Analysis Manager, Environmental Affairs Budget Manager, Cost Accountant, and AR Analyst. Prior to joining the DHEC team, he worked at the State Treasurer’s Office, and began his professional career as a Credit Analyst at one of the nation’s largest banks. He is a Certified Government Finance Officer (CGFO), Certified Treasury Professional (CTP), and received a Graduate Certificate in Leadership from The Citadel. 

Wimberly earned his bachelor’s degree in psychology from Francis Marion University and his master’s degree in business administration from The Citadel.
