Facilities must report to the Department, within thirty (30) days, any changes of status affecting any x-ray machine or facility. Changes that must be reported include, but are not limited to:
Any business or individual who possesses an X-ray-producing machine must register the machine with SCDES within 30 days of acquiring the machine.
You are also required to notify SCDES any time you sell or expose of a registered X-ray machine.

If your out-of-state facility would like to offer mobile X-ray services in South Carolina, you must first apply for and receive an Out-of-State Facility Registration Approval (FRA).
There are no reciprocity agreements with other states in effect.

SCDES's Division of Radioactive Material Licensing and Compliance is responsible for the licensing and inspection of 400 specific radioactive material licensees and about 400 general licensees and registrants.

You can file a complaint and/or report an injury to SCDES. We will begin the investigative process to determine if the facility is in compliance with state regulations.
