The South Carolina Department of Environmental Services migrated email services over the weekend and staff were unable to send or receive messages from 5 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 6 until 7:30 a.m. Monday, Sept. 9. Barns, Stables, Pens or Growing Houses (not including lagoon, storage pond, or waste utilization areas)

Wells

  • Human Drinking Water Wells - 200 feet (excluding the applicants which must be 50 feet)
  • Animal Drinking Water Wells - 50 feet (per Reg. 61-71)

Ditches (except site drainage) located downslope - 50 feet

Property Lines

  • Facilities with a capacity of 500,000 lbs. or less - 200 feet or 1,000 feet to the nearest residence whichever is greater
  • Facilities with a capacity of greater than 500,000 lbs. - 400 feet or 1,000 feet to the nearest residence which is greater
  • Distances may be reduced with permission from adjoining property owner.

Waters of the State including ephemeral and intermittent streams located downslope - 100 feet

Lagoons or Waste Storage Ponds

Wells

  • Human Drinking Water Wells - 200 feet (excluding the applicants which must be 100 feet per Reg. 61-71)
  • Animal Drinking Water Wells - 100 feet (per Reg. 61-71)
  • Ditches (except site drainage) located downslope - 50 feet

Property lines

  • Facilities with a capacity of 500,000 lbs. or less - 300 feet or 1,000 feet to the nearest residence whichever is greater
  • Facilities with a capacity of greater than 500,000 - 500 feet or 1,000 feet to the nearest residence whichever is greater
  • Distances may be reduced with permission from adjoining property owner.

Waters of the State including ephemeral and intermittent streams - 100 feet (500 feet for trout waters, outstanding resource waters, critical habitat waters for endangered species, and shellfish harvesting waters

Manure Utilization Areas

  • Wells (Human & Animal Drinking Water) - 200 feet
  • Ditches located downslope - 50 feet
  • Residences/Property lines The minimum setback between a manure utilization area and a residence - 300 feet (maybe waived with consent of property owner)

If no residence within 300 feet of property line: no setback

Waters of the State including ephemeral and intermittent streams located downslope and the method application is:

  • Spray irrigation - 100 feet
  • Incorporation - 75 feet (can be reduced to 50 feet if incorporated within 24 hours)
  • Injection - 50 feet
