The South Carolina Department of Environmental Services migrated email services over the weekend and staff were unable to send or receive messages from 5 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 6 until 7:30 a.m. Monday, Sept. 9.   • Human Drinking Water Wells - 1,750 feet (excluding the applicants which must be 100 feet)
  • Irrigation wells (including animal drinking water wells - 100 feet

Ditches except site drainage:

  • which drain to waters of the state including ephemeral and intermittent streams - 100 feet

Residence/ Property Line (excluding the applicants residence) - 1,750 feet

Separation from another large swine facility with 1,000,000 pounds or more - 25 miles

Waters of the State including ephemeral and intermittent streams - 2,640 feet

Lagoons or Waste Storage Ponds

Wells

  • Human Drinking Water Wells - 1,750 feet (excluding the applicants which must be 100 feet)
  • Irrigation Wells (including animal drinking water wells) - 100 feet

Ditches except site drainage

  • which drain to waters of state including ephemeral and intermittent streams - 100 feet

Residences or Property lines - 1,750 feet

Waters of the State

  • Waters of the State including ephemeral and intermittent streams - 2,640 feet. However, if waters are classified as ORW (Outstanding Resource Waters), Shellfish Harvesting Waters or Critical Habitat Waters of endangered species - 3,960 feet. In both cases, a minimum 100 foot wide vegetative water quality buffer must be provided.
  • ephemeral and intermittent streams - 100 feet

Manure Utilization Areas

Wells

  • Human Drinking Water Wells - 200 feet
  • Irrigation Wells (including animal drinking water wells) - 100 feet

Ditches

  • Which drain to waters of state excluding ephemeral and intermittent streams - 100 feet
  • Which drain to ephemeral or intermittent streams - 50 feet

Residences/Property lines

  • If injection or immediate incorporation is the method of application manure may be applied up to the property line.
  • If injection or immediate incorporation is not used - 300 feet from the nearest residence. If there are no residences within 300 feet, manure may be applied up to the property line.
  • Distances may be reduced with the consent of adjoining property owners.

Waters of the State

  • Waters of the State excluding ephemeral and intermittent streams – 100 feet (regardless of method of application)
  • Ephemeral and intermittent streams and the method application is:
    • spray irrigation -100 feet
    • incorporation - 75 feet (can be reduced to 50 feet if incorporated within 24 hours)
    • injection - 50 feet
