As with the septic system installer license, to become licensed as a septic system pumper/hauler an examination must be taken and passed with a score of 80% or better. To schedule the in-person exam, please contact your local SCDES office.
When applying for a pumper/hauler license, applicants are required to submit a list of the sewage disposal facilities they intend to use along with written permission from those facilities when completing the online application. With each annual license renewal, licensees should report any changes or updates pertaining to their sewage disposal facilities and submit updated written permissions if they have expired.
- All new pumper/hauler vehicles and equipment should be inspected by the Department within 30 days of becoming licensed or being added to the inventory. Annual inspections should be conducted at the time of annual license renewal. You must keep your vehicle inventory list up to date and on file with SCDES. Any changes to vehicle inventory should be reported in ePermitting.
- Records of Activities Required: For each vehicle, you must maintain a log (record) of each pumping and disposal load. You must make this record of activities available for SCDES upon request.
The licensing requirements and fees are authorized under Regulation 61-56, Onsite Wastewater Systems.
