Latest Update

Today has been sunny with temperatures ranging from the mid-40s to the mid-60s. Activities on Saturday and today have been focused on removing the final waste from the site, grading the ground surface to restore proper drainage, filling surface water containment sumps, cleaning equipment, and preparing for site demobilization.

The final load of waste left the site at 2:45 PM today.

The remaining SCDES sensors are reading in the “Good” range for the 24-hour average comparison to the Air Quality Index (AQI).

Please refer to the interactive SCDES map to access real time air quality information from the SCDES air sensors.

Total Trucks through 1/211,918
Total Tons through 1/2113,038
Total Trucks on 1/3130
Total Tons on 1/31,637
Trucks as of 3:00 PM 1/636
Tons as of 3:00 PM 1/6415*

*Weight was only available for the first 33 truckloads today.

Please note: The number of trucks leaving the site each day varies depending on the weather and firefighting activities. Also, the tons per truck are estimated on days when landfill receipts are not available at the time of this update.

We’ve used a combination of both triaxle dump trucks and dump trailers. Each dump trailer has the capacity of about three times that of the triaxle dump trucks.

No material was removed on January 4 because of bad weather; no material was removed on January 5 because the landfill was closed.
