Final Edisto River Basin Plan Access and Public Meeting Information
The SCDNR is now accepting applications and supporting recommendations for the Edisto River Basin Council. Application forms and instructions are available for download. The application deadline has been extended from January 2nd, 2020 to January 8th, 2020. All applicants should review the information below before submitting an application.
Two public meetings were held on November 18th and 21st, 2019 to introduce the new Planning Framework to stakeholders, and formal Council meetings began in June, 2020. Agendas, presentations, meeting recordings, and meeting summaries can be accessed below.
The Planning Process Advisory Committee oversees state and regional water planning activities for the State.
Under the new State Water Planning Framework, River Basin Plans will be developed for the eight major river basins in the State.
Water demand projections for a 50-year planning horizon will be used for assessing future water availability.
Projections of future water use are critical to the planning process. In order to develop State and regional plans that effectively balance the economic, environmental and social needs of South Carolina for generations to come, estimates of future water demand are needed.
