The S.C. Department of Environmental Services (SCDES) invites residents to attend an upcoming meeting to review and provide comments about the draft Saluda River Basin Plan. Public input is an integral part of the development of the plan, which will help identify best management practices for ensuring the Saluda River basin has water resources available for all future users.
The draft basin plan was completed by the Saluda River Basin Council, a collection of stakeholders with diverse water interests in the basin, over a two- and half-year period beginning in March 2023, and developed under the guidance of the South Carolina State Water Planning Framework
The draft River Basin Plan includes a review of surface water availability over a 50-year planning horizon and documents water management strategies that will help ensure water is available for all future uses.
The public meeting is 6:15 p.m.-8 p.m. Thursday, May 29 at the Graham W. Rick Operations & Training Center, 560 Mauldin Road, Greenville. (Directions via Google Maps).
Attendees are also welcome to arrive early for a walking tour of ReWa's new Swamp Rabbit Trail Extension, beginning at 5:15 PM. Please see the public meeting flyer for more information.
