Air Compliance

The Bureau of Air Quality (BAQ) Compliance Division ensures adherence to state and federal air quality regulations. The division conducts compliance monitoring, inspections, and evaluates emission sources to verify emission factors and operational practices. The division also implements enforcement actions to address violations and return facilities to compliance. Through oversight of reporting requirements and coordination with permitting staff, the compliance division provides regulatory guidance to help industrial facilities maintain compliance with applicable air quality standards.

The BAQ Enforcement Section works to conserve and enhance South Carolina’s air resources by ensuring compliance with air quality laws and regulations. The Section applies established enforcement tools to address violations, return regulated sources to compliance, and promote consistent adherence to regulatory requirements. Through these actions, the Enforcement Section supports public health protection and provides a clear deterrent to future noncompliance.
