The S.C. Department of Environmental Services (SCDES) Laboratories conducts monitoring, sample analysis, and data management providing validated data meeting quality control requirements for environmental decision-making to SCDES Programs, EPA, & the Public. SCDES Laboratories also certifies public & private environmental laboratories (drinking water & wastewater plants, industries & commercial laboratories, state & federal laboratories and is responsible for the SCDES Laboratories’ Quality Management Program.

There are seven regional laboratories throughout the state located in Aiken, Beaufort, Charleston, Florence, Greenville, Lancaster, and Myrtle Beach that perform microbiological and chemical testing.
