The South Carolina Environmental Laboratory Certification Program is administered by the South Carolina Department of Environmental Services (SCDES), Office of Environmental Laboratory Certification. Its primary purpose is to ensure that laboratories generating environmental data for regulatory purposes produce valid, accurate, and defensible analytical results.

The program operates under South Carolina Regulation 61-81, State Environmental Laboratory Certification Program. Certification applies to laboratories performing analyses under Safe Drinking Water Act, Clean Water Act, and Resource Conservation and Recovery Act when the results are required by SCDES or are officially submitted to the Department.
