Sewee Landing In-Person Public Meeting & Hearing

SCDES will hold a combination public meeting and public hearing on November 6, 2025, to accept oral and written comments on the proposed NPDES Stormwater permit application from Mungo Homes. The meeting/hearing will be held at Berkeley Electric District Office, North 7200, US-17 in Awendaw, SC 29429. The public meeting will be held from 6:00 – 7:00 PM, with the public hearing beginning at 7:00 PM. 

This notice provides additional opportunity for public participation and community engagement as the previous public meeting and hearing on September 29, 2025 were affected by forecasts for potential impacts from Tropical Storm Imelda and transitioned to a virtual event.

SCDES is currently reviewing the application for an NPDES Stormwater permit and CZC Certification from Mungo Homes which proposes 39.6 acres of land disturbance for the construction of a single-family residential subdivision and associated infrastructure. Since this site is located in a coastal county, the applications require SCDES’s Bureau of Coastal Management to review the project for consistency with the South Carolina Coastal Zone Management Plan.

Community Engagement

In-Person Public Meeting/Hearing

SCDES will hold a combination public meeting and public hearing on Nov. 6, 2025, to accept oral and written comments on the proposed NPDES Stormwater permit application and CZC Certification from Mungo Homes. The meeting/hearing will be held at Berkeley Electric District Office, North 7200, US-17 in Awendaw, SC 29429. An informational public meeting to share information and answer questions will begin at 6 pm and will be followed by a formal public hearing beginning at 7 pm. The hearing will be conducted by a hearing officer. Oral and written comments will be accepted. Oral presentations may be limited to a fixed, reasonable amount of time. The number of representatives that may make oral statements on behalf of any individual or organized group may be limited.

All previously submitted written and oral comments, including those during the Sept. 29 virtual hearing, will be considered in SCDES’s decision making process.

Virtual Public Meeting Hearing

SCDES held a combination public meeting and public hearing on September 29, 2025, to accept oral and written comments on the proposed NPDES Stormwater permit application and CZC Certification from Mungo Homes. Due to the potential for inclement weather, SCDES transitioned the public meeting and hearing from in-person to a virtual meeting.
