Across South Carolina, underused and environmentally impacted properties are being transformed into safe, productive spaces that strengthen local economies and protect public health.

Through collaboration with local governments, developers, community leaders, and state and federal partners, the South Carolina Department of Environmental Services (SCDES) helps turn Brownfields into opportunities — creating places where families live, businesses grow, and communities thrive.
