Availability Session for Canadys Station Project and Notice of Public Hearing for NPDES Stormwater Application and Coastal Zone Consistency Request for Canadys Station Combined Cycle Generating Plant – Phase 1/ Initial Grading.

5:00 pm – 6:00 pm: Availability Session on Proposed Canadys Project with SCDES Program Staff
6:00 pm: Public Meeting on Stormwater and CZC
7:00 pm: Public Hearing on NPDES Stormwater and CZC for Canadys Station Combined Cycle Generating Plant – Phase 1/ Initial Grading

From 5:00-6:00, SCDES program staff from our air, water, wastewater, wetlands, stormwater, and coastal programs will be hosting an Availability Session for questions and informal discussions on various permits required for the proposed Plant.

A public meeting will begin at 6:00 to provide a brief overview of pending and anticipated applications to:

Provide an overview of the scope of the project
Outline anticipated timelines for application and opportunities for continued public engagement
Summarize the NPDES Stormwater and CZC requests seeking approval to begin clearing and grading for a portion of the project in upland areas.

Beginning at 7:00 p.m., Stormwater Permitting and Coastal Zone Consistency Programs will convene a formal Public Hearing to receive comments on the pending application for upland land disturbance associated with Canadys Station Combined Cycle Generating Plant – Phase 1/ Initial Grading. Comments on the stormwater application will continue to be received through Sept. 29.

What to Expect during Public Hearing?

A public hearing is a formal process by which SCDES receives comments related to the application under consideration. The hearing will be conducted by a hearing officer. Oral and written comments will be accepted at the hearing or may be submitted in advance, as detailed below. Oral presentations may be limited to a fixed, reasonable amount of time. The number of representatives that may make oral statements on behalf of any individual or organized group may be limited.
