VIEW THE 2025 STATE WATER PLAN
WaterSC Water Resources Working Group
On Sept. 24, 2024, Governor Henry McMaster issued Executive Order 2024-22, establishing the WaterSC Water Resources Working Group (WaterSC) with the S.C. Department of Environmental Services (SCDES) as the lead coordinating agency. WaterSC was created to work across state agencies and with key stakeholders to guide the development of an updated state water plan that ensures the long-term protection of the state’s water resources as demand increases from record-breaking economic development and population growth.
WaterSC, led by SCDES, convened its first meeting on Oct. 30, 2024, and has met monthly to have meaningful discussions on water resources use, management and preservation. Additionally, six listening sessions and open houses were held around the state as opportunities for members of the public to engage with SCDES staff and WaterSC participants, and provide input and comments.
The work of SCDES, WaterSC and other key partners will continue as South Carolina works collaboratively to ensure that future generations inherit a state where water is protected and abundant.
